SOTERIA's Presentation at the EU Climate Resilience Dialogue

Mia Ebeltoft, the Climate Risk Advisor at SOTERIA, recently took centre stage at the EU Climate Resilience Dialogue (CRD). At the invitation of the EU CRD Secretariat, Ebeltoft focused on the "Norwegian Case" and the journey leading to the establishment of the Knowledge Bank. The session, which spanned approximately 45-50 minutes, provided a platform for robust discussion and exchange, underscoring the alignment between SOTERIA's objectives and the broader goals of the EU CRD.

The EU CRD is a pivotal forum co-chaired by DG CLIMA and DG FISMA, dedicated to fostering collective understanding and action on climate risks among insurers, reinsurers, businesses, and stakeholders. With a mandate to address the climate protection gap, the CRD is crucial in advancing Europe's adaptation strategy and promoting sustainable resilience-building efforts.

The outcome of the meeting reaffirmed SOTERIA's significance in the climate resilience landscape, with several members expressing keen interest in maintaining ongoing communication and collaboration. Notably, EIOPA extended an invitation for a similar presentation to its network on catastrophe risks, recognising the value of SOTERIA's insights and initiatives in informing industry practices and policy decisions. Furthermore, the working group on Assets/activities (public) expressed a strong interest in providing feedback on SOTERIA's forthcoming questionnaire to the Case Studies, particularly regarding insurance penetration in municipalities.

Key Outcomes from the Meeting
